Heritage Volunteers, Capability Brown Festival 2016

Lancelot (Capability) Brown (1716-1783) is regarded by many as the Father of the English designed landscape. His radical ideas changed the fashion from symmetrical into a more naturalistic landscape style from the mid-C18. His work, at some of our country’s most famous historic landscapes, can be seen at Buckingham Palace, Blenheim Palace, Stowe and Chatsworth.
Planning for the year-long festival celebrations around the country started in 2011. NADFAS is one of fourteen partners with a seat on the festival committee, alongside enthusiastic experts. This is the largest such heritage project yet to be undertaken in the UK. Not all CB sites will be open to the general public in 2016, but help is being offered to ensure as many sites as possible, who wish to do so, can participate in the festival.
The main role of NADFAS will be to provide volunteers as, when and where needed, and festival training is likely to start in the autumn of 2015.
